Oticon Own 2
Here is my take on the Oticon Own Hearing Aids.
Oticon Own 1,2 and 3 (premium range) launched October 2022. Oticon 4 and 5 (essential range) TBA launch. The Oticon Own family comes in five sizes from IIC (invisible in canal) to ITE FS (In the ear Full Shell). I have always found the Oticon IIC to be the one of if not the smallest on the market and very discreet.
2.4GHz?These long-awaited hearing aids are designed to fit all lifestyles and demands. With made for iPhone streaming and ASHA protocol Android streaming (size ITC and larger) they are available with direct connectivity for better hearing in conversations and act pretty much like a set of personal headphones. They can also stream music / audio etc.
IIC or Full Shell? The IIC and CIC are the most discrete of the family and have two power points covering losses up to 90dBHL. No telecoil option or 2.4GHz option though, but much improved chip set based on the More hearing aids. The ITC, half shell and full shell aids power up to 100dBHL and have either 2.4GHz Bluetooth or Telecoil option.
What Colour?there are five colours to choose from helping to best match skin tones and personal preferences.
Own 1,2 or 3?We prefer to talk through the differences after a hearing test. This way you can get what you need and be able to fully explain the benefits of the certain products. The technology changes at each level and is designed to improve user experience in more challenging conditions. A brief synopsis is the Own1 is based on the More1 hearing aids has 64 processing channels compared to the 48 in the 2 and 3, more fitting bands and a wider frequency bandwidth (10KHz) they are all 2.4GHz if over ITC in size unless a telecoil is preferred in which case it is swapped out.

A brain‑friendly in‑the‑ear hearing aidDid you know you hear with your brain, not your ears? Your ears collect sound, but it’s your brain that actually understands it and a healthy active brain can avoid other health risks. In fact, a 25‑year study* found people with hearing loss, not using hearing aids, had a higher risk of dementia compared to those wearing hearing aids. Our BrainHearing™ technology makes Oticon Own a unique in-the-ear hearing aid designed to provide you access to more sound to support your brain’s natural way of working. This offers you a truly personalized listening experience, allowing you to process everything more effectively, making it easy to stay in the conversation and do the things you love. *Amieva et al. Trained with real‑life sounds for a real‑life listening experienceThe world’s first in-the-ear hearing aid with an on-board Deep Neural Network (DNN)*. What does this mean? Technology that provides you access to more sound and reduces listening effort.** We trained the DNN on 12 million real-life sounds to give your brain more of the information it needs to make sense of sounds. This means that even when you’re in a complex listening environment — like a restaurant, or a meeting at the office — Oticon Own will help you navigate what you need to hear, and reduce your listening effort**, so it’s easier for your brain to take on other tasks.
* DNN is only available in Oticon Own 1, 2, and 3. ** Reduction in listening effort is measured with peak pupil dilation. Rumley et al. (2022). Oticon Own evidence. Oticon whitepaper
